Payout Guide

  • Unless otherwise specified, most prompts/events are open to anyone to join, and there is a limit of one entry per person.
  • Pieces submitted can either be Drawn (digital/traditional) or Written.

    • Drawn pieces must be full color and also must have an environmental background or they will be declined. (Simple is fine but no sketchy/unfinished work.)
    • Entries should have, at minimum, some form of simple shading.
    • If your character is heavily obstructed/obscured (Whether by blurring, effects, clothing, or shading.) so much so that we cannot tell who/where they are or easily make out the detail in the piece, then your entry will be declined.

  • For drawn entries: your main grem (or GremNPC) must be in the image and at least 50% of their body should be clearly visible.

  • For written pieces: written entries must be at least 1000 words, and primarily feature your Grem (or GremNPC.)
    • If submitting through a google doc entry, please be sure your link is set to “shareable” so that it can be opened and viewed by the prompt team.

  • You are allowed to include other Grems (or GremNPCs) in your entry as long as at least 1 Grem (or official GremNPC) is present and meets the minimum requirements listed above.

  • Please be sure you have permission from other owners before including their Grems in your entry! Story characters or npcs do not count towards gift bonuses, it has to be a grem owned by another user! You can view characters open for gift art here.

  • Any grems present in your entry must have an up-to-date masterlist entry. Meaning your grem should be under your name and all designs present in an entry must match with their current masterlist images. (Ex: If you have recently redesigned your grem, you will have to wait until the masterlist has updated with the new version before including it in an entry.)

  • Collabs are not allowed, the entire entry must be created solely by you!

  • Plagiarism will not be tolerated. Please do not submit works that are not your own.
    • Artwork cannot be traced or made using pre-existing templates/bases  (including memes.) (References towards memes are ok, but the piece should still be largely original content.)
    • Piece should be created specifically for the event. Pre-existing pieces and commissions/trades cannot be submitted as entries.
  • When submitting your entry, please be sure to fill out the "Characters" and "Rewards" section, as well as any forms needed in the "Comments" section. Submissions that fail to do this may be sent back to the user so that characters used and any reward choices they may have forgotten can be added.

= FAQ =

Do I have to use the NPCS as an FTO/ N-O, or can I use other peoples’ grems?
β–Ί No, you are allowed to use other people’s grems in your entry so long as it still follows the requirements above!

Do I need to include my own grem/NPC’s in my entry?
β–Ί No! As long as it still meets our entry requirements, you are able to make an entry entirely filled with other people’s grems as a “gift art” submission if you like. The entry will still count as yours, but any grems present within it can belong to other people. Please be sure to ask before including someone else’s grems in your entry. )

What if I trade away the grem that I entered with, while the prompt is still ongoing?
β–Ί This is fine. In cases such as these we will simply consider the piece a “gift art” entry.

What is considered an “environmental” background. Do I have to draw a large nature illustration?
β–Ί No. In this context “environmental” simply refers to your grem being in a setting. They shouldn’t be floating in an empty transparent space with no background, or encompassed entirely by a single solid-color or simple gradient background. There should be a recognizable setting/place around them.

What kind of setting can I draw my grem in?
β–Ί Your entry should clearly depict the setting presented within the prompt. You are free to interpret the setting as you like and do not have to exactly copy what is shown in the example image, but as an example, if the prompt takes place at a countryside fair and your entry shows your grem in space, then it will not count as a valid entry to that prompt.

Am I allowed to show blood/violence in my prompt entry?
β–Ί Yes, though keep in mind that your entry should still follow the prompt objective. Anything that would not fit thematically into the prompt scenario is subject to be declined (for example if the objective is to collect slugs and you draw your grem getting beaten up, this will not be considered a valid entry.)

β–Ί We also wish to maintain a pg-13 rating for the general comfort of our members, so anything that would be considered too explicit is liable to be rejected. Please be sure your entries still follow our general rules and guidelines for what we consider acceptable submissions to the group. If you are not sure about your idea, then feel free to ask!

If you have any further questions that we have missed, then please ask in the comments section on the DA journal, or in QnA within our Discord (please note that questions asked in the Discord server will be seen and answered more quickly than in journal comments)!

We will also be hosting several prize raffles that will end alongside the event close date.
In order to be entered into each of these raffles you will need to complete certain parts of the event.

----------------------------------------------------------------

Time seems to lag ever onward, and as the autumn season begins its yearly approach, things around you seem to slow. Almost as if settling down for the long winter yet to come. However, where one usually might be paying attention to the change of seasons, the color of the leaves, and the droll passing of each day growing slowly colder, your mind lay elsewhere.

You have recently caught wind that a mysterious being has settled itself in a small forest grove just a short distance away from your local town. Its sudden appearance seems to be causing quite the stir, and like so many others, curiosity has gotten the better of you yet again. The trek, thankfully, is not long or arduous in the slightest, and in fact you almost cannot believe how easily you were able to come across what you might have assumed, from the look of it, to be a private venue… It is practically as if something had guided your way, permitting you passage.

As you break through the underbrush, you pause and take a moment, allowing your eyes to adjust to the dim light of the evening. The area before you is a spectacular sight; a clearing surrounded by great and ancient pine trees which stand like dark sentinels, swaying in the breeze, their large pine cones almost decoratively placed. Hay bales are piled to and fro, adorned with cornucopias and jack-o-lanterns at every turn, faces silly and scary alike. The smell of the cool air is crisp beneath the wood smoke, and the orange harvest moons hang swollen and bright above.

As you make your way through the gathering of both Grem2 and humans, you spot a familiar face. Evie waves at you, her massive pumpkimp snoozing happily nearby.

“Well, glad to see you actually made it! I wasn’ sure you’d get the invitation, Vell is a bit selective.” She winks and then chuckles, “Jus’ joshing ya! It’s not really selective at all, it’s just glad people are coming ‘round this year… Oh, it’s about to do a speech, go, go!”

Meet Vell

πŸƒπŸπŸŒΏπŸŒ½ πŸ‚πŸŒΎπŸƒπŸπŸŒΏπŸŒ½ πŸ‚πŸŒΎπŸƒπŸπŸŒΏπŸŒ½ πŸ‚πŸŒΎπŸƒπŸπŸŒΏπŸŒ½ πŸ‚πŸŒΎ

Unsure who or what Vell is, you follow the forming crowd as Evie ushers you along. You join many faces around a large bonfire, with a robed witch grem in the middle, who tosses some sort of herb into the flames. It suddenly erupts into a massive column and surprised gasps fill the air. The flames change color from orange to green to a brilliant purple, multicolored sparks flying in every direction, yet catching nothing alight. As you stand stunned by the size of the fire, it parts and a huge creature passes through the flames, its massive wings spread wide. Everyone shouts in further surprise and terror at the sight of something they have never seen before, but as it draws nearer, your chest fills with a daunted yet alluring feeling of reverence.

This is a Demi-God.. One of the few creatures on Palleth that holds a terrible and awesome sway over the elements of this world. To glimpse such a creature is a rarity, to stand in the presence of one is an extraordinary honor… or perhaps a terrible condemnation. This Demi-God is resplendent, its chest fur puffed out and shining. Its massive form levitating for a moment before hitting the ground, wings beating with a monstrous strength and kicking up a wind that rustles everything. The flames behind it remain impressive, casting the grove in a strange, unnatural light.

“Welcome,” The Demi-God, Vell, bellows in a voice grand and rich, “to my celebration! Many eons ago, before humans came to Palleth, I was worshiped at times of harvest.” As it speaks, the creature paces the circle, letting its massive frame be taken in by every attendee in clear detail. Its booming voice makes you quake from the tone. “But, since their appearance here, it would seem that the old traditions have long since fallen to the wayside.” You detect a bit of a grumble in the god’s voice as they continue. “Many of my kind have given up their hope of ever being recognized again as they once were, but I have remained steadfast in my determination.” Its head tilts downwards to glance over the crowd once quickly.

“I have waited long to be worshiped once more, and still, to this day, I am forgotten. Year and year again,  while I toil away for your sake, you aim your attentions elsewhere, and have forsaken me!  Even my witches!” It looks sharply over the crowd, and you follow its gaze in the direction of Evie’s carriage. “But, by the council of my people, I have decided that instead of sitting idly by and abandoning my sacred charge as caregiver of the crop-”

It pauses here to observe you all with a bird-like eye, “I will allow you all a chance to offer me my rightful recompense. My followers have told me much of the modern world, and with their help I have decided on an alternative course of action that should serve us both… by hosting a grand festival of worship, of course!”  It sits, impressive wings spread to the sides, head still cocked dramatically. “You may yet be new to this world, but I would have you learn, as your ancestors did, that nothing in this life comes freely. I have worked long in the interest of your well-being, it is time you worked for mine.”

“Now go, my followers will tell you how to bask in the Glory of my Power! But know this. If I am not satisfied..”

Vell twists to look at you all with a neck that seems to grow unnaturally long as it looks from one end of the circle to another, before settling carefully back on it’s shoulders, “Well, perhaps you will make good mulch for my Howlers…..” an immediate chuckle emitted from the beast before continuing “‘tis but a joke of course! Let us have a bountiful celebration then!”

It gives its wings a great flap and then folds them flat along their back, immediately moving to mingle with the crowd and eagerly talk to the others who have gathered here. It  speaks dramatically & with exuberance,  in the same booming voice, clearly wanting everyone nearby to take notice and listen, even while they are doing other things.

After the commotion has died down a bit, Evie comes to your side, giving you a thumbs up, and grinning widely.

“Don’t let ‘em get to ya. Vell may be a bit dramatic, but they aint all so bad, really! And I would know, they are my patron, after all!” She pauses for a second to adjust her hat, "Vell was pretty bummed about last year, I guess something else got in the way of the spirit of the season.” She shrugs both shoulders, “Come here, I’ll walk you through the festivities.”

Welcome to Vell’s Clearing! This is a special place in which we have all gathered to give strength back to the Demigod of the Harvest, here are your tasks:

🌾TASK 1: An Offering🌾

The autumn wind carries with it the cho of a chill, and palleths twin harvest moons hang heavy and bright in the night sky, shining down on the gathering below. Depict your grem2 making an offering to the Demi-God while at the festivities! This Demi-god’s favourite offerings are: meals made from harvested fall plants, carved pumpkins, and miniature affinities, but if you’d like to humour them with something different then feel free to get creative and show us what you have to impress them with!

πŸŒ™ TASK 2: Moon DanceπŸŒ™

It is now time to don your costume & partake in a festive dance under the light of the twin harvest moons! In old times, costumes would be worn to fend off ill-mannered spirits in order to keep the festivities going, and Vell appreciates a well made costume. Its followers have provided all of the necessary materials to make yourself a brand new costume for the celebration. If you came with your own, you are suggested to take it off, and make a brand new one with supplies available at the event.
