While they try to give off a nonchalant and relaxed impression, California is notoriously neurotic and easily panicked. They have more anxiety than they really know what to do with, and is very jumpy because of it. Being casual can be hard for them, despite their best efforts, and they fear coming across as awkward or unlikeable -- not that they actually ever do. They can be quite forgetful about things, often losing track of the time, or important events and plans -- even information. 

Nonetheless -- and ignoring what they'd say about themself -- Cal can be personable once they warm up to somebody, and is a great listener. While it can be hard for them to give good emotional support, they're much better with general advice and problem solving.
