Initially commissioned to work as a guard for a wealthy man, Nightshade inherited all his wealth and establishments when the man died under mysterious circumstances. Although instead of enjoying a luxurious life, she picked up his interests and spent a lot of time and resources obtaining and pondering over artefacts and documents related to cypherus grems.

She owns & operates a popular bar and nightclub called Last Night, often working there herself as the place is perfect for exchanging information and serves as a meeting spot for grems in shadier businesses. While she keeps a friendly and polite appearance in front of customers, she's careful about revealing any shred of personal information about herself and finds meaningful friendships too risky to pursue. Her closest friends are her two pet crows.
